If...?

If a tree falls but no one

Is around, does it make a sound?

It's always been my favorite quote

But now it is pure irony.

 

I feel the fire burning in my veins

Touching every part of my body

Burning it to a charred crisp

As I scream out in pure agony

 

If I scream out and scream again

But no one is here with me

Am I truly in as much pain

As it appears to me I am?

 

Does it even exist, this horrible pain

If no one sees me experience it?

Could it all be in my head?

Something that doesn't really exist?

If I scream out in pain, is the pain really

There if no one witnesses its damage?
