Slipping Away

Slipping Away

A Poem by Ally Baker

Darkness surrounds me

As i stumble blindly

Scratchy tree hands

Grab at me

From all directions

I loose my footing

And fall into empty space

I reach out

For something to grab

But my hands

Find nothing but air

I continue

To fall through empty space

Never seeming to

Get any closer

To whatever

May lie below my falling body

Then suddenly

Something sharp

Pierces my body

I can see the moonlight

And his silhouette

On top of the cliff

I struggle to see

The rock

Sticking through my body

But it is too late

My returned vision

Is slipping away

Just as my air is

Slipping away

Just as my life is

Slipping away

Just as He is

Slipping away

Back into the woods

AWESOME write!!!! I really love this one. Vague enough to keep interest, detailed enough to keep me in the scene. I like it because it almost feels like a dream... the falling part.... and I love the mystery around the man. Good stuff!
