Lies

Lies

A Poem by Ally Baker

Lies

One after the other

I cannot handle it anymore

Its just too much

Clear

Glistening

Rippling

Beauty

Every lie

Ever heard

Replays

In my head

Please just let it end

Once and for all

One final attempt

Hits the spot

The clear beauty

Is fading away

Being replaced

By a murky mixture

My vision is

Slowly slipping

Away from me

Blackness

Numbness

& The replaying lies

Are gone

the voice in this poem is very strong, somewhat fragile from all the nonsense in his/her head about beauty, i believe trying to achieve the perfect face and body through social standards of what is "beautiful" but it's gotten to a point where the way she/he is perceived appears to be a lie because it is not the way she sees herself...so some damage has been done internally and externally by others and herself...

Simply real.

Thanks for the review on Trapped. I appreciate the feedback. I haven't gotten any in months 'cause I've basically have been dead from writing.

i realize that this poem is a bit hard to understand the meaning of it. but i dont want to tell you because i believe that you shouldnt be told what a poem is supposed to mean. poems and novels and stories and all kinds of writings should be interpreted in the reader's unique and personal understanding of it.
