Nightmare

Nightmare

A Poem by Ally Baker

Running

Running

Running

Footsteps follow

Close behind

No matter

How fast I am

They get closer

My shoulders

Are pulled back

By two hands.

They turn me around

Screaming

I awake

I close my eyes

&& try to remember

All I see

Is an empty hood

With two white

Glowing eyes

Staring at me

Shivering

I look to

My nightmare count

And add a tally

Ninety-eight

Different

Nightmares
