A Poem by Ally Baker

I saw this coming

but they did not

I go from perky colors

pinks and reds and oranges

to darker colors

greys and blacks and blues

black covers my nails

there is a ring hanging from my lip

the music playing in my ears

which was once pop

is now rock and metal

they say I have changed

but have I really?

or has only what they

see on the outside

changed?

I am the same person

inside

I have always been the same me

inside

but they only see the

outside

Author's Note

Ally Baker
okay, well randomly working on a social studies project, this started forming itself in my head, i only saw the first few lines but once i started writing, the rest revealed themselves instantly. It took me at most 2 minutes to write down.
