My Dear Riley

My Dear Riley

A Poem by Ally Baker

i look up

when he says 'sup?'

from across the aisle

i see him smile

my heart starts to flutter

as i hear someone stutter

& then i realize it was me who spoke

as he takes a sip of his coke

he holds it out, 'do you want some?'

i shake my head no, my tongue is numb

i can't think of what to say

 i have to look away

his eyes shined

enough to melt my mind

i turn back to his face

and i feel as if i'm in space

i smile shyly

at my dear Riley

& in return his smile grows

and his face glows

The teacher spoje to the class

but i was behind soundproof glass

i continued to stare into his eyes

which were the color of the skies

someone tapped his shoulder

she was older

he turned his head

her hair was red

my heart stopped

my stomach dropped

i could not speak

as she put her lips on his cheek

and gave him a kiss

she said 'you forgot this'

she handed him a brown paper bag

i was about to gag

'thanks a bunch'

i heard something crunch

he turned his eyes back on me

i asked 'who is she?'

'a family friend' he said

'i call her Red'

'her real name's Heather,

we grew up together

she is like a sister to me.'

'oh' in my voice i could hear the glee

he put his hand in mine

a silent chill ran up my spine

he pressed our lips together

and i felt like a feather

i knew that he was mine and mine only

with him, i could never feel lonely

he would never break my heart

for he is smart

once again i smiled shyly

for he is my dear Riley

hehh..love, how sweet... i actually thought it was funny when she was about to think her dear riley would betray her. but he sounds like a good guy...

anyways, this has a nice flow and is fun and easy to read, and i'm sure many people(especially girls) will be able to relate to this.

nice first piece!
