Matter of OpinionA Poem by Luguolo
what would you give for the contact you crave?
would you offer your skin, if flame promised to hold you?
would you offer your mind, if insanity promised to never let go?
would you offer your body, if disease promised never to leave you alone?
would you offer your life, if death promised to cradle you?
though you may view this as ludicrous,
to think naught but those lacking in sanity would do,
can you say you have never visited these places?
dark rooms where strangers make promises of the ever elusive candy,
you the child, craving the kindness of their open hand,
the sweetness of what lay within,
only to be trapped within the fingers, wrapping tightly around you,
forming fleshy bars your'e not even sure you wish to fight.
what have you offered for such embraces?
what would you offer?
do these seem so crazy now?
do they seem so far gone?
