A child's poem completing where the sun goes during nighttime, and how when the skies are dark we are never along.

The Sun and the Moon

L.J Bunn

The sun has set, and the moon has risen,

The sky is black, dotted with stars that glisten.

Schools, parks, and shops are now resting and empty,

All the people are at home,

It’s time for bed, and time to sleep.

But, where has the sun gone?

Did it sink below the earth?

Did it change colour to be the moon?

No. The shining hot orange sun, has slowly been moving,

As we play and have fun during the day.

Now where we live, the sun has moved.

Moved to another part of the world.

For the moon has risen here,

But far away, the sun has just risen for other people to begin their day.

So, as you snuggle down for the night,

Across the world, other people might,

Be eating their breakfast or going to school,

Driving to work or even eating their lunch.

As you sleep soundly, even the moon is moving slowly,

Back around the world to bring night to the day,

And the sun back to us so that it will be our turn to play.

The sun and the moon orbit the earth,

The earth that we share with billions of others,

So do not fear loneliness, for how can that be?

An earth shared by billions, you’re never alone.

As the sun sets and the moon rises,

Darkness may fill the skies,

But billions of stars do sparkle and shine.
