The Umbralla

The Umbralla

A Poem by Joshua Ramirez
"

A poem about protecting myself with the darkness that may hurt me. ~ March 3 - March 4, 2017 ~

"

I won’t admit it.

I want to keep living blind,

I want to keep basking in the darkness,

Nothing can help now when I’ve fallen so deep.

I kept lying, living the story,

The fake story, the game,

The game they thought I was playing.

They thought I was a pawn they could pick up and move,

But they were puppets that were on my strings.

I press forward holding the umbralla,

To conceal what would be my weakness,

To suppress that urge to surge and blurt out.

Hiding in the shadow is my prowess,

Locking away what I know in a house of secrets.

No one will ever find it.

I’m exposed, not protected,

Are you aware, can you detect it?

Wanna walk with me, you have to accept it!
They tell me to find myself, but maybe

I want to be lost in the labyrinth of lies.

I want to delve in the deepness of my own abyss.

The pressure goes up, and the nightmares begin showing up.

Come with me, join me under the umbralla.

Come with me, out of warmth, out of solace.

Come with me, together we go into the umbra.

Come with me, out of light, out of care.

We will find your weakness, want to see?

I will know your loss, want to go?

We will uncover your treasure, want to see?

I will know your pain, and we will both grow!
