United We FallA Poem by Susan M. FennBlargA black horse on a white hill Foaming at the mouth Leading with lies Building power based on fear
"Fighting the good fight" "Nothing will stop us" "Bi-partisan, pro-war" Building an engine of hate
It rolls steady down the hill Building momentum Raging within And United we Stand
As the years move on Power shifts gears What was once important Is now a distant memory
The bi-partisan failed The people are lost No power based on dread No consideration for what has been lost
It's no wonder How the campaigns Degrade one another It's only a shame
Name calling Finger pointing It's all a childish game Accountability is lost in the blame
How would it be If just for a day A being of power Was humbled with guilt
He told his greivance And let the once blinded choose Whether we believed He did what was right
And then accepted with the jeers That maybe for once He was at fault The world, just once
Would stop in its tracks Headlines would read Senator does Crack All because he didn't lie to the sheep
How sad a world And how bad would the consequences be At the end of the day United We Fall
My challenge to you As it is to myself Quit accepting the non-answers Start pressing for what matters
