Night's Embrace

Night's Embrace

A Poem by Lucius Vaul

As light falls dim and shadows fade
and birds grow hush in twilight's wane
still are trees that rocked and swayed
the sinking sun its blood red stain
paints the sky like ruptured vein

That gentle blowing of the breeze
with soft and gentle breathless sigh
caresses skin puts minds at ease
as silver moon in nighttime sky
reveals the world its dragon's eye

Now close my eyes and drift away
let night embrace me once again
as troubled thoughts and worries drain
forget for now life's cruel dismay
