Blinded by Illusion

Blinded by Illusion

A Poem by Lucius Vaul

You look to me for comfort
but instead, find emptiness.
Your life is what you have made of it
I am not your savior, save yourself.
Your wounded eyes seek compassion
yet I have nothing for you, no life, no love.
You seek the understanding of my heart
but instead taste the cold emptiness of it,
its vast depths clouded in a blanket of mistrust.
I hold no hope for you or this world
this place that keeps me enchained against my will.
I long to break free .
I am dead inside yet can not die
frozen forever in time and anguish.
An ageless soul trapped in putrid existence.
I sit and watch this world around me rot,
the maggots of society eating away at your flesh.
You decay from the inside out
right before my very eyes
yet you can not see it,
blinded by the illusion
you are being fed daily.
Your trust shall be your downfall my dear.
And I will sit silently,

watching as you are consumed.
