The Soul Lies Far

The Soul Lies Far

A Poem by Lucius Vaul

The soul lies far
on distant plains
of sun scorched earth
and summer rains

Where skies grow dark
and children cry
where mothers weep
as fathers die

And crystal grains
of moonlit sand
now fade to grey
upon the land

As memories
entrap the mind
within their grasp
dark thoughts unwind

And hope seems cast
upon the waves
of final whispers
spoke at graves
