The Abyss

You sit there,

Your heart full of darkness,

Your mind full of conflict,

Tears in your eyes,

You sit there with the feeling,

The pit of your stomach sickened,

At the most simplist of things,

That was really a lie,

You feel off beat,

You feel betrayed,

As the thing you cared about most,

Just waltzed away,

It was not caused by a huge fight,

Or by even a slip of a tongue,

Just a meaningless gesture from one too another,

That made you feel different,

At the moment it happened,

It was so unintentional,

But through simple one and twos,

You managed to gather this,

Despite all they said,

Despite all they thought,

You couldn't get over the feeling,

You couldn't get over your love,

You felt on multiple occasions that things would go,

That your life would be perfect,

But at the time you did not see,

The truth behind their actions,

It may not be anything,

The tears in your eyes may just be meaningless,

Your regret may be a bit empty,

But you will live on,

Despite all these possibilities,

A war continues to rage on inside your head,

Is what you saw what was there,

Or did you misconceive the events,

Despite all this,

Your heart begins to ache,

The feelings are strong,

And your heart is ready to break,

As your thoughts pass through your mind,

You begin to let out a cry,

They are what your aren't,

They are what you wanted to be,

Their life will be good,

Yours will be little,

And at that time,

Things shall move on,

Your pain will seep,

Your wounds will heal,

But as of now,

The wound still remains,

Your body aches,

Your mind quivers,

Your hatred steep,

Your depressive state continues,

After all you felt,

After all you thought,

You cannot touch emotion,

You cannot touch anything,

Your life could be spent alone,

Or with another,

But as of right now,

You are truly and utterly,

Alone,

Horrid in feeling,

Horrid in taste,

Horrid in appearance,

Incapable of love,

As you think of these things,

You stare deep within,

Right back down,

The Abyss stares back,

Author's Note

This is wrote because of how I felt after something happened today. It's very little but it can tell volumes if thought thoroughly. It is rough but this is the top of my head with no refinement.

Wow this is extremely powerful and very vivid, Lucas. I appreciate the emotion and truth you put in this as I know it is hard to admit and put down in words. However, I find it very cathartic -- purging I mean.

Thank you. I wrote this when I was having conflicting feelings over nothing. I felt disgusted at myself after I wrote this but I can earnestly say this one was by far one of my most difficult poems to write. I find the flow will randomly and abruptly cut off but that is because I didn't have my full vocabulary present when I wrote this.
