Ask all you want.

Ask all you want.

A Poem by V. Lucien Maier
"

Tried of requests for the text of my work. this is a rant as to why

"

ask all you want.

I don't write in text, I don't write on paper.
I wont hurt trees for me, so there will be no books from me.
Why are you words worth a tree, even one?
You won't see the words, because this is how I present my work.
It comes in audio, and if that is not good enough for you move on.

Don't tell me how you need the words to review. because my answer would be then just listen and enjoy that is more important to me.
I love feedback but I wont be changing my pieces, I will however look at your advice in my future pieces.

Reviews are great to improve your work in the future,
but the body of work from an author starts from the begining and ends at death.

But most of all stop asking for the text, because its not going to happen.
Oh and I am completely aware that I will never get a book contract.
and that is exactly what I want.
I have dealt with publishing companies on many levels, for my own books and many others,
and let me say this, the publishing industry is a horrible monster that kills creativity for the sake of Money.

This is my opinion, but if you are willing to give up your creativity for money you are not an author you are a business person.
I am not saying mine is the best way, but the traditional method is a horrible way.
at least mine is my work, my thoughts, my way...
can you say the same?

Two things come to mind as I read this (well, perhaps more than two - but I will be looking at two).

The first is in regards to reviews. You have the writer. You have the reader. It is not a collaboration. Your insights and thoughts "might" be taken into consideration in regards to future pieces. Your opinions are your opinions. The work still belongs to the creator of the work. There is a saying that roughly goes along the lines of those that cannot - teach. Or something like that...

The second is in regards to publishing. I had a discussion once with a friend in regards to selling works. They had said the money would help. During that discussion, they brought up the fact that I was vaguely suggesting they had been whoring themselves by whoring their words. Though most people have a day job, we do not really consider it whoring ourselves - even though to an extent, we are. Yet when it comes to the publishing industry, there is that dirty and shameful feeling - that lends itself better to the idea of whoring.

A little bit of a ramble by me, perhaps, but still - in the end, we each see what we see in how we want to see it, or hear it, feel it - experience it.

very beautiful way to look at how poetry is writen and what a simple choice of supplies means.
As someone who has ASD/dyspraxia my handwritten would suggest I'm a terrible writer and without things like this my words are deemed scribbles of no good use.a look at how apperance can hide the real beauty in things.

Very nice, I love how powerful you are about how you feel and how much you are willing to stand your ground and not let someones opinion change you. Great piece. Awesome :)

This reminds me of some distant rant you would hear at a poetry club. You know, the man dressed in black with shades and a buret, pouring his soul into a crowd? Bongos, my friend. This poem reminds me of bongos.

I digress. What I personally get from this poem is someone not willing to change themselves to please others. At least, that's the direct focus of this peice--the only focus, some could argue. As for the poem aspect of it, it doesn't flow all too well. rhyming "peices" with "pieces" shows a lack of creativity or drive. Same goes for the way you used "way" three times in the last stanza.

Anyways, I don't really have a say in the matter because I've never heard your other work. (And I probably wont, either.)

You have every right to stand up for your opinion and though I do not agree that traditional publishing is a horrible way to get a writer's work out there, I still respect how you feel. I prefer reading things over hearing them, but some people are the other way around. It should be your choice how to present your work, and not anyone else's.

Kudos to you for standing up for yourself. Some people just don't understand it seems. A story can be told in many mediums, be it film, book, or like you, audio. For me I don't care how the story is delivered as long as it has character development and an in-depth progressing story. That's all that matters to me. As far as money and creativity is concerned I for one favor creativity. The publishers can have most of the money from my novel, just as long as they don't butcher my story I don't care about money. I want my story out there, simple as that. I'm not looking to be the next J.K. Rowling either. I want to be me. Jared Hughes.
A good write. Sorry for not reviewing your other pieces yet I've been really busy. I still am but I thought I'd review this one seeing as I read it. Good-job.

Would we tell Rembrant how to paint, or Angelo how to sculpt?

Lucien, I hope you are mildly suprised at how many are siding with you on this one. Nothing gets my "irish" up than someone telling my "how I should have" written a paragraph or a whole piece for that matter. This is your own creation, and a unique niche here. We are here to help improve, not tear down and rebuild.

( just a little side note, may want to check out second paragraph, last line)

All my best,

JC
