Martin sits in a dark solitary cell, thinking about how he got there. He regresses into his favorite subject math.
Deep in numbers Martins starts working on an Equation the could reverse his predicament.

The first thing that struck me is the similarity in our voices. Beside the point, I know, but I thought I'd mention it. Well, I didn't expect a sound recording, but it was enjoyable. Thinking about past courses of action and mulling over how we might have changed history is something a lot of us must do---I know I do. If I'd only zigged instead of zagged.......
Sorry it took me so long to get to this, I've been on vacation. This was great! You read it really well, and the use of sound effects like the breathing and the gun shots were all wonderfully effective. I really loved how the cute the imagined scene at the end was, how he saw everything turning out if he had only not lost his temper. Really adorable with the new ring and the little son, it made the actual ending with the equation being erased so much sadder. The only thing I wanted more of was how Martin grew so angry as to actually pull the trigger, instead of simply sigh and lower the gun as in his hindsight? Obviously being robbed isn't a pleasant thing, but I wonder if Martin has had similar experiences and this was the last straw, or perhaps a history of losing his temper, or maybe the heckling from the robbers was even worse than we heard. Again, this piece is very strong as it is, in part because of the wonderful presentation!

Um, the previous review seems to have summed up what I was going to say very very well, so I can't really add anything, but I did like the story. It's very true to life, flip sides and choices. I'm sure many people can relate to it.
I didn't find this work as smooth as the many I've listen to in the past. That being said I followed it easely. I liked the way it was read as well. The story is a bit flipent in that it a topic that many authers have undertaken and failed, yet this is not a failure if you listen without distractions. Good job.
Brillliantly portrayed story of how just a few seconds can change a life.. those choices we make. Math can be used in so many formulas and equations.. but some things do not add up. The human brain is an unlimited array of equations..fashioned by upbringing, environment and genetic coding.. but put to pressure.. no one knows what it can equte to for each individual at any given moment or event. In solitary confinement.. this man still tried his best to equate a way out of his own making. To change his course of history could be fatal to another anyways.. if he had not shot this robber.. they may have had another gun.. turned and shot his son... limitless endings to such a story. The true equation = the dollar amount spent on the wedding set which pales in comparison in the time lost with his family and his own freedom. Just what I found in it anyways.. thank you so much for sharing. Great Narration..=)
