For Elin

A Poem by Luke Bowles
"

A poem about aging, nostalgia and the impressions we leave upon each other. I was 7 days into a silent meditation retreat and reflecting on how women I used to know have remained with me

"
Seas and years now lie between us
    Your firm body softening
    Flaxen hair graying
    and flawless skin decaying,
    I would presume

But your eyes still bright, alive
    recalling
a moonlit night on a foreign beach
    sultry air pregnant with hope
    where our bodies
    and lives
    lay perfectly entwined

That was our youth
    and yours is forever mine
