Melody Three

Melody Three

A Chapter by Spade

I walked in my new room, but before I could search for a face of any type, I saw my belongings on the floor. Mio gasped.
 "Told you," she whispered.
I started picking up my clothes without thinking. What was I doing? Some Rina girl throws my s**t on the ground, and I'm the one picking it up? Where is this b***h at?
I took a deep breath. I've never had a sibling, so I've never had something like this happen before. But one thing I did have was catty friends, so I knew how to deal with b*****s.
I searched the room for Rina. I saw a figure step out of the bathroom, suddenly. Step one, find the target, accomplished.
Step two, study target and search for anything to trash about. I looked her over; super, super tall, blonde, straight hair, layered, the same uniform I've been seeing everyone wear, and wedge heals. A total Plain Jane.
Actually, with her teal eyes, and highlights in her hair, she was super-kawaii, but I wasn't about to tell her that.
Step three, approach with the sweetest smile possible. I walked towards her, attempting to look docile. Although it was hard, due to the fact that she was scowling like she wanted to kill me, I succeeded.
Here goes nothing. "Excuse me, but would you and your 2006 haircut and last season shoes, if they even deserve to be called shoes, please pick my Goddamned s**t up off the floor?" I smiled and blinked twice, expecting a screaming match.
"Spade," Mio started slowly, "I don't think-"
"Quiet, Mio," Rina cut in. Her scowl turned into a sinister smile. "What makes you think I did this?"
I was startled, but didn't let it show. Where I come from, that tactic always works; the victim never questions, just does. "The fact that you were just scowling."
"It's not everyday I see someone willing to stand up to me," she admitted. "It's a little refreshing. But enough of these games. You know full well that I am not going to pick up your things."
Now it was my turn to scowl. "Why did you do this, anyway?"
 "It was on my stuff."
"So you think that gives you the right to do this?" I growled. Whenever I get upset, I have a tendency to go on rants. I could tell that was about to happen.
 "Well, yes."
But before I could even start to scream at this act of nonchalance, a cell phone started to ring, making us all forget  our squabble for a moment. We all kind of looked at each other, in a Aren't-You-Going-To-Answer-That? way.
Mio, bless the poor child, continued giving us the look until she realized it was hers. She answered.
"Moshi moshi! Hey...Right now? But I'm in the middle- ...Fine...Time flies! Okay. 'Bye."
She turned to us. "Sorry to interrupt, but I have cleaning duty, according to my roommate Sai. Apparently, it's my turn. Again."
Rina rolled her eyes. "Well, you'll be missed." she said sarcastically. Mio looked down, and I felt my anger rise again. Who was this girl, making my potentially best friend upset? Rude w***e.
Mio opened the door, but not before saying something. "Spade, you know how you said boys never notice you?"
 "Yeah..."
"Well, maybe you've been barking up the wrong tree? Give me a call if you ever need a little clarification." She smiled wickedly, blushed a little, then left the room.
 Didn't expect that s**t.
As if reading my mind, Rina-B***h spoke up. "One of the many dykes at this school. Going to an all girl school for a while, with only three boys, does that to you."
I smiled, but then quickly remembered my anger from before. "That's a rude term. But are you one?" I asked coolly.
"I swing both way, but lean toward boys more." She looked at me and raised a brow. "But don't worry, you're not my type."
Forcing myself not to roll my eyes, I said, "Look. We're roommates. We don't have to like each other. We don't even have to speak. But one thing I do expect us to do is respect each other. If you want to play this little charade, then fine. But don't cry when you get burned."
She must have taken my threat seriously. But even as she bent down to pick up my things, she said, "I never cry." I heard the smile in her voice.
I inspected the room. Not as grand at the auditorium. The carpet was white, yes, but no pink hearts on the ground. There were two beds; one in each corner of the room. They were both (spoiler!) covered in posh soft pink bedspreads. And between the beds was the door to the bathroom. Opposite from the bathroom door was a flat screen TV, and to the left of the television was the (large) closet door. To the right of the TV was the door Mio exited from.
Out of the beds, I noticed Rina had the one closest to the windows (which were pink f*****g hearts). I guess I get the other. But damn, I really love looking out the windows first thing in the morning.
By the time I was done scanning the room, Rina was done. She stood up started at me, expectantly.
I cleared my throat. "Um, thank you."
She smirked. "No problem. But that wasn't what I was waiting for. I was waiting for you to ask me about this school."
I didn't know how, or care, about how she knew I wanted to ask her that. I just needed answers. "Well, explain then."
She took a deep breath. What was she about to do, recite The Declaration Of Independence?
"Well, they're aren't many rules. And there's only one expectation. You have to have talent to get into this school. You get in on a scholarship of any sort? Most of us have," she said.
"Yeah, my test scores were okay, but I think they were more impressed at my singing skills because they gave me a full one."
"You must be a prodigy, then. But anyways, yeah. Classes, only on Monday through Friday, start at 9, and end at 2. You can roam around after then, which most do, but everyone must be inside by 11:30, and no sneaking into boy's rooms. Even if there's only 3 of them here. Although you can sleep in other girl's rooms, as long as they're in your Chamber. If you're hungry, downstairs you can go into the cafeteria and eat, but most just bring it upstairs."
"What's the deal with these 'Chambers'?"
"Well, basically it's like a level, or grade change. You can't be held back, but you can advance. Hearts are the first, all newbies must start there. Hearts have their own Chamber, own classes and teachers, and etc. Same goes for Stars, which are next, and so on. If you'd have bothered to show up last week, you would know some of this stuff."
I pouted slightly. It wasn't mandatory, just a week-long meet-and-greet, really. And I wanted to spend as much time with Zoey and Melissa as possible."But aren't their only four years of high school? There are five 'levels' here, you know."
"Yes, dummy, I know. The Butterfly is like your 1st year of collage, but instead of sitting there learning, the school sends you out for auditions and tries to get you contracts, stuff like that. Gets you into the real world of performing, you know?"
"Oh, I see. But what about the boy situation?"
She looked at me blankly. "What boy situation?"
I put my hands on my hips. "Where the hell do they sleep? Certainly not with us."
She laughed. Surprisingly, it sounded nice. "The boys, all of them Stars, are always on the first floor, in the first rooms. So they get an eye kept on. So don't worry, you won't get raped at night."
I laughed sarcastically. "Very funny. But one more thing; what the f**k is up with these uniforms?" They were so bland, my eyes wanted to bleed. And when I say bland, I mean it. Literally. It's a regular school-girl skirt with a regular school-girl top, but it was all white. "Don't these kids have any fashion sense?"
She shrugged. "We're hear to get our careers ready, not to make a statement."
Most of our f*****g careers are to make a statement!
"It was a little shocking throwing your things around," Rina said. "I expected just  boat-load of panties, bras, pads, and deodorant, but you had camisoles, shirts, shoes, petticoats, accessories in about every color. And it was sorted." She shook her head. "Neat freak, I see."
"Not me, my Mom." I looked around. "By the way, where will I put my stuff? I don't see any drawers."
She rolled her eyes. "They're in the closet, along with your uniform."
Confusion struck me. In the closet? I thought as I walked to it. Where the hell is the space for them? But as I opened the door to the closet, my thoughts vanished.
Dear God, this was a fashionista's wet dream. All this room. It was the size of our room, but with rails on each side for the hangers. Mine had about 15 uniforms on each hanger, but there were about 20 more that were bare. And at the end of each rail (which were pink by the way) were white dressers with 6 drawers each.
I gasped. Up above, there was a pink chandler! With the carpet being pink, you would think it would be pink overload, but this room was perfect! I felt like a kid in a candy shop, a fat person with cake in front of them, and pothead ready to smoke. There was only on thing that would make this closet better.
Putting my Goddamn clothes in it!
As I stood there smiling like an idiot, I saw Rina snickering out the corner of my eye. "What the hell are you laughing at?" I had honestly had enough of her attitude, even if everyone else put up with it.
She came towards me, so close I'm sure she could hear my breathing. She smiled and stroked my cheek. "You."  And with that she placed a kiss on my lips.
I don't know how long it lasted, or when we even stopped, I just know that my cheeks were on fire and she was standing there smirking at me, something she seems to be a pro at.
"Well, with that little parting gift, I guess I'll be on my way." With a slight wave, she exited the closet, then the room altogether.

Well, I guess at a school with only three guys, there are going to be a lot of lesbians! That was a bit of a shocker, though. I loved how Spade handled the situation with Rina (cool name, by the way) at the beginning--that was pretty awesome. :) A little weird that as far as I remember, there was no cussing in the first chapter, and this one's full of it; seems like a quick evolution to me. There was one sentence that really bugged me, and I had to point it out:
"To the right of the TV was the door Mio left out of." This sounds pretty sloppy; try to think of a way to rephrase it and neaten it up. Maybe "the door Mio exited from/door from which Mio exited."

Still good so far. But I think you could tone this one down with the cursing. I would use it lightly, to have more emphasis on what you have to say. Anyways, it's coming along fairly well.
