Walking with Butterflies

Alone I’m walking, this road ahead

No clear direction to see

Thoughts and feelings crowd my head

Seemingly endless to me

Along my path crosses butterflies

Pausing a moment to fly along my side

Different patterns, colors, and sizes

Envy of the freedom fills me inside

Some flying circles around my feet

Others shoot ahead and circle back

Few will wait until we meet

Before moving on to another

To have that freedom of flight

Colorful and attractive wings

Going here or there within my sight

Unique designs making my heart sing

Wondering of my own beauty

What colors would my pattern be?

Are they red, yellow, blue, or just black?

Do they bring a smile to your face?

If only I could break from this cocoon

But fear is a powerful key

Desire grows with each rising moon

I can feel my wings forming

Soon I hope to taste this freedom

And get off this lonely path

Soon I will be walking

Just as the butterflies I see
