Sky SerpentA Poem by LuNaR-COne of the things I love writing about more than any other is the natural world; the sky, the plants, the animals, etc. This is one such poemThe sky hangs laced with malice, Brooding and dispassionate; The last remnants of light Stain the bruise-coloured contortions So they seem to hold a personal sun, Turning vapid smears into unearthly sky serpents With bellies full of fire. Vaporous tongues lap the evening blue Until smoke plumes surge from the scalded surface. Discarnate creatures float through the night, Jaws agape to issue forth Silent shrieks of flaming pride. The night’s canvas clears in their wake Leaving the heavens scorched - The sky palate a deeper shade of blue. © 2012 LuNaR-CReviews
