Marriage is Dying

Marriage is Dying

A Poem by Lowesy

Is this life? Is this hell? Am I flying? Or am I trapped in a cell?

The walls are closing around me, and I can barely breathe,

This life I thought was my own; I live in a broken home.

You shout, you scream, I close my eyes as my ears bleed,

I’m lying awake in my bed, listening to the things you said,

Stop your shouting, stop your fighting,

Think of the children, broken and crying.

Listening to Mum and Dad,

As their marriage is dying.

Are we cursed? Are we normal? Are we disturbed? Or is this natural?

I feel like I’m in a play, so full of drama,

I hope that karma, will serve you right,

Stop your shouting, stop your fighting,

Think of the children, broken and crying.

Listening to Mum and Dad,

As their marriage is dying.

Can I love? Can I live? Is this the life I’m meant to stick with?

Can I be different? Can I change,

From the example you have made?

Stop your shouting, stop your fighting,

Think of the children, broken and crying.

Listening to Mum and Dad,

As their marriage is dying.

I read then listened and followed along. I could see the song from the beginning - as lyrics they fit.

How horribly true. I fear that our generation has forgotten the vow "for better or for worse." It is harder to fight for what you have when the doors of life slam, swing open and shut. The forever changing times and strife, to endure, to evolve with the person you vowed to love, that is the challenge that many fail. But, there is always an exception, ones who stand true to the love of their life.
Beautifully done. Thank you.

at the top, I've tried to embed the video into it. I'll post it at the bottom in the author's notes section, it worked there last time. Thanks for your comments all!

Excellent piece - realistic yet poetic. The repetition of your questions, though not the same, add an added punch to the piece. My favorite line is "You shout, you scream, I close my eyes as my ears bleed..." Ears bleeding... such a great metaphor.

This is a song, right?...with a great chorus.

Fact : Chaos within family makes the children bleed.
Let the voice of the children be heard again through this piece.
This is worth resharing...
