![]() Left in the DirtA Poem by LowesySmall child full of grace With a spat of blood on thy innocent face. Torn in two my heart has been, These two pillars on which I’ve leaned Have crumbled to the ground, Bringing me to my knees. Heading which way, I do not know. The shouting and war waged against each foe Seems futile in what’s left between A lonely child once so full of glee. Is lost and falling into his parents greed. Trying so desperately to be seen, He shouts and calls into the darkness he cannot see. His future is uncertain now, his destiny is burned. His fresh new pages are yet to be turned. If you see this child with tears in his eyes, Remember he’s just said his goodbyes To his Father or Mother, As his future’s decided, along with his brother’s. Together, as a three we cry. Father, I don’t want to say goodbye. You can feel the world is getting colder, When the world is crashing on your shoulders. As I was feeling the rain of responsibility You weren’t there for me, To make me feel like I was king, Instead you tried to make me carry everything. I was sick and I was tired of hearing the battle raging, Of hearing of whom was losing And which one was winning. That’s not the point, It doesn’t matter about the victory Because in the end there is only one loser, And that loser was me. Left in between. This war, it doesn’t matter who you hurt, All that matters is that the others left in the dirt. This smile is crooked, These eyes are weeping, These legs are failing, To carry me on, And my mind is broken, And every word that is spoken, Is stopping me from carrying on, So tell me why I should, When the world is so bad, I learnt this life from my Mum and Dad. © 2011 LowesyReviews
