CagesA Poem by Asylum DormouseAbout the conditions of the present day mental institution from a first hand account.Flick of a switch A shake and a shove Awoken to be captured And dragged into their cage
Thrown into a room Cramped with fear Atop the ghosts of girls Who once lived free
Stare outside all twelve hours Watch the geese plod on the snow Until you seem to have forgotten the chill of winter And shut the blinds in despair
The redundant smell of wet cement Ever increasing the frustration Of being locked behind a slanted door And never allowed to be free
Flick of a switch A shake and a shove Awoken to be captured And dragged into their cage
