One breath,
And a new life begins.
One step,
And the world is at your fingertips.
One word,
And suddenly everyone understands.
One tear,
And everything falls apart.
Or together.
There's something nice about crying one tear.
It's relieving.
But suddenly the tears keep coming.
They're flowing uncontrollably.
Suddenly that relief is gone,
It's been replaced with fear.
The fear that it will never end.
That you'll cry forever.
And a thought crosses your mind.
"Maybe the pain will never end."
You take a book off the shelf.
You grab a box of tissues,
Sit down,
And begin to read.
The cover is a little dusty,
The pages very thin and fragile.
Some of them are ripped,
Stuck together,
Even whole pages are missing.
But it doesn't matter.
You still read.
You open to page 623.
Where did you leave off?
Ah, here it is.
Psalms, chapter 73.
Verse 26.
"My body and my mind may become weary,
But God is my strength.
He is mine forever."
Forever.
That is a long time.
It is longer than a long time.
It is not even for all time.
After time has ended,
God will still be yours.
He is YOURS.
And you are His.
And all of this from one.
One tear,
And everything falls apart.
Or together.
You decide.
The rest of your life is coming.
It's all in your hands now.
But do not be afraid,
The Lord will be with you.
Forever.
