Is Anyone Up There?

Is Anyone Up There?

A Poem by Isabella Menace
"

Wrote it when I was nine. First time it took me a while to write a poem.

"

Is anyone up there? Can you hear me?
I'm lost, God, so unmistakeably lost.
Please, I'll do anything for anyone.
Get my family out of this, I beg of you.
Please someone, still these rebel seas.
I'm not joking; Oh no, this is not fun.

Is anyone up there? Please say yes..
We need you badly, don't you freaking see?
Our dreams are torn at the seams
My hopes once raised have crashed.
Do you think this is funny? I'm not laughing.
We've been beaten, hated, and eternally bashed.
Do you even give a damn? Why don't you answer?

I used to send foolish little wishes up to you.
Hoping you'd answer, just a little sign.
But, Hell, I'm starting to believe you're not true.
Anyone would, too, if you'd abandoned them
Like you have me and my family.
I don't think I trust you anymore. If there is a You.

Hello? Is anyone up there? Please answer me now...

This was awesome, its very moving. Perhaps just from the innocent perspective of being a child, but the desperation and need of the words fly with seething veracity, cutting in simple yet deep lines across the soul. A heart-felt plea which is not contrived, but is bourn forth in the truest form from an heart screaming for help. Well done, and not even just for a nine year old.
