Perfectly Unperfected Distance

Perfectly Unperfected Distance

A Poem by Megan Wylder

They say we won't last.

I laugh as I tell you,

Followed by promises of forever.

As soon as I can get away,

We'll be together.

Our smiles and laughs,

If only I could be with you now,

Curled up in your arms.

I'll wait. You know that.

You know I love you.

Doubt starts to kick in.

Your friends are telling me things.

Are they true?

I cry. You try and tell me sweet nothings.

I don't listen. But I don't leave. I can't.

You do. What about forever?

The distance, overwhelming?

But we were suppose to stay together.
