They Never Stay Do They?

They Never Stay Do They?

A Poem by Megan Wylder

That cold charming voice speaks again
Reassuring nothings going to be ok
The conviction makes it almost impossible to not believe

What if that voice of doubt,
That never truly gave in.
Is right?

How long has she been back?
Whispering sweet nothingness inside my dreams,
Telling me not to try
Whats the point when he's going to leave you?
She keeps saying now.

The confidence in which she speaks
Hard to ignore.
Fight her off, thats all i can think to do.

My Voice lost against the bitterness hers took on
You can't win echo's through my head
You know its true
He won't stay
They never do now do they?

The words pass my lips
Truer than ever.
