my brighter side

my brighter side

A Poem by Cheyenne Delay

I looked in the mirror today,

finding someone I never met,

she's happy,

she's not alone

and she brings sunshine,

her long silky black hair pulled back

revealing her face

she laughs with joy

and doesn't have to hide

could she be my brighter side?

I looked in the mirror today,

seeing a child to be grown

her fake smile painted over the tears,

she's lost in a world unknown,

when she walks in the room silence starts to grow

look at her she cuts that girl she self harms

so every day she hides her face

and the fact she wants to run away

A very well done poem. I did like the dividing of the poem between the two sides, the bright side and the not so bright side. It was a nice touch.
