An imprint on my soul

An imprint on my soul

A Poem by LovelyMidnight

I try imprint your name into my soul,

Yet the wind keeps blowing you away,

The once gleaming light reduced to coal,

Being left behind leaves me with no dismay.

All I want to do is trace your body with shaky finger tips,

And hold your love softly in the palm of my hands,

But the sun shall enter an eternal eclipse,

Hope crumpling into demeaning sands.

The shadows grow larger as if to mock,

Laughing at the naïve soul that choose to believe,

They reach out grisly knuckles and begin to knock,

Pound on the ancient bark in an effort to receive.

My Haggard eyes stare back at the dark in burning hate,

Yet I sit as still as a stone with no plans to retaliate.
