Sarah and Getting Ready

Sarah and Getting Ready

A Chapter by LovelyDeath

I sat on his lap, his arm wrapped around my waist and holding me to him. I couldn't believe I ever gave him up for college, it was a stupid mistake. But then I wouldn't have married Matt, and even though he has major anger issues, I love him too.
"What are you thinking about?" James asked me as I was staring at him.
"Why I left you before college." I sighed, leaning my head on his chest listening to his heart beat which picked up speed the moment I had laid my head down.
"Want to go out tomorrow?" he asked suddenly and I glanced up at him, noticing him staring down at me with a smile.
"Sure, what do you have planned?" I asked, cocking my head to the side as I looked at him.
"That will be a surprise." he said, taping the side of my nose with his index finger. I grinned at him, before pulling myself closer to him and turning my attention to the television.
I passed out sometime soon......

.........I woke up alone though, there was a note on the couch next to me and I picked it up, smiling to myself.

If your reading this now, obviously means your awake. I'm coming to get you at seven, The surprise starts then.
J

I smiled to myself again, picking the note up and holding it in my hand. I set it on the counter and looked at the time.
"Wow, I slept a long time." I noted, noticing it was almost two. Must have been the emotional time I running through with James back. I don't even know if I want him to have come back or not, I'm so confused about that.
The door bell rang and my mind went crazy with ridiculous ideas.
It's Matt and he's found out about me and James.
It's my mom saying her and my dad split up.
It's James' girlfriend ready to punch me in the face.
It's the police here to arrest me because I was talking to myself.
Or....
It was James saying he wanted to say screw you to me.
I don't really know why that was the one that scared me the most, I mean I would get why he would do it. He's apart of my life now, even if I'm married. He's my lover and what's strange is I don't know if I'm his or not.
I blinked my way out of my thoughts, going to the door and pulling it open. I saw my best friend, Sarah Beck, standing at the door with a wide grin on her face.
"Sarah!" I yelled, putting a hand on my heart. "Your scared me!"
"Yeah I know, your the only friend I have that assumes the police are here to arrest her for some bizarre reason just because the doorbell rang." she laughed, walking in. "So tell me, Sugar. How are you?"
Sugar was my nickname for her, she liked calling me that because when we were in high school I had started a sugar fight in the lunchroom. I only got one detention, other than that I didn't get much trouble.
"I'm fine." I said, " I need to take a shower..."
"Come then lets go." she said, grabbing my arm and dragging me to the bathroom. She sat on the counter as I started the water.
"So where are you going this afternoon?" she asked as I climbed in.
"Out." I murmured.
'With someone?" I could see her raising one of her eyebrows already.
"Yes."
"Who? Spill! Are you and Matt getting a divorce?" she asked me.
"No me and Matt aren't getting a divorce." I murmured.
"Is it a guy?" she said, her voice quiet as I poked my head around to look at her. Her blonde curls were pulling back in a barrette, her crystal blue eyes were soft and curious. She was more curvier than I was and a bit more taller.
"Yes." I sighed.
"Really? Who?"
"James White." I muttered.
"Him?!" she yelled.
"Yes."
"Your going out with him?"
"Yes"
"You like him?" she pressed, she was a curious little kittycat but I knew she loved James when I explained him to her in college, so I knew she would be fine with it. Especially since she hates Matt.
"Yes."
"Can we get past the one syllable words?" she asked.
"Yes."
She pulled open the shower and glared at me with one eyebrow raised.
"Sorry, I'm just worried." I sighed, shutting off the water and climbing out as she handed me a towel.
"About what?"
"What if Matt finds out? Or worse, James decides he doesn't want to be with me because I'm married." I murmured, sliding down the wall so I was sitting down as I twirled the ring that I had just put back on my finger.
She sighed, sitting next to me.
"If Matt finds out and tries to do something to you, call me and I'll beat him up. Hell, I'll call James,Brian, your brothers, your dad, my brothers, and my dad to beat him up." she smirked at me. "James loved you back in high school from the way I see things and if he still has even a tiny bit of those feelings left, he'll still love you now. Regardless of you being married or not."
I hugged her, knowing she always picked the right words to make me laugh.
"So how are things with you and Brian?" I asked and we just started small talk as I slipped on my clothes. I wasn't going for anything fancy, just jeans and a nice shirt considering he's not taking us anywhere too public.
I left my black hair down, letting it wave around me and down my shoulders. "I hate you." she sighed, fixing my hair. "You have better hair and better blue eyes."
"Fries, you know your always going to be better looking than me." I laughed. Fries was her nickname from me because back in college she beat this guy up with a controller because he tried to steal her french fries.
"Your never going to get over the incident are you?" she groaned.
"Just about the same as you getting over when I told you about the sugar incident." I told her, poking my tongue out as she laughed.
"Well I just came to check on you. I better go get ready for my date, Brian is taking me somewhere for a surprise." she giggled.
"Well have fun, Fries." I said, turning around and kissing her cheek as I showed her the way out.
By the time she had actually left it was already six-thirty, there's not much stopping us when we talk sometimes. Unless one of us is distracted by something or somebody else.
I sat on the couch, pulling out The Last Song, by Nicholas Sparks book out. I had just gotten to the part where Will had knocked a drink all over the leading girl when the doorbell rang.
I smiled, setting the book down and standing up. For once my thoughts didn't go all crazy on me because I knew exactly who was at the door.
I pulled it open and there he was, standing in jeans and a t-shirt with a smile on his face.
"Hey there, baby." he said, cradling my head in hands as he re-adopted the name he used for me in high school. He kissed me softly as I laugh, putting my hand on his cheeks.
"You didn't freak out about who was at the door?" he asked, still holding my face in his hands.
"Nope, I knew it was you." I smiled, he kissed me one more time before he grabbed my hand and pulled me over to his bike.
I was so glad I wore jeans that's for sure.
He climbed on first and I climbed on after him, he looped my fingers through his belt loops and his finger ran over the spot where my ring is supposed to be.
"Where's your ring?" he asked as we drove.
"In my jewelry box." I said, "It didn't seem that appropriate."
I could see him smiling as we sped forward and I tightened my arms around him and laid my head on his back.
