If She Had WaitedA Poem by DoNt LoSe YoUrSeLfOne night, a girl Went out with her friends. To a party at a mansion. A rich friend, she had. There to enjoy the New Year and life. Taking shots and dancing like no one watched. Feeling free and more than alive. But everyone saw her. Knew who she was that night. By the way she was dancing People couldn’t help but stare.
After a long night of fun, Drunk and woozy, she left early. She began on her way home, walking. Stumbling along the sidewalk, Just wanting to reach home. Soon she stumbled her way into the street Into an oncoming car. She was hit and killed on impact.
Laying there, lifeless on the pavement. She lay dead. Just waiting for someone to find her. Soon a car drove up, her father Who was out looking for her. To bring her home.
And as I wrote my words, It was sad to hear that young girl Died on the way home from that party. Never knew her dad was out looking for her. Now a heartbroken family Grieves over their daughter in the New Year.
As I wrote, I always thought of her. Just wishing if she had waited at the mansion She would’ve made it home safe. © 2012 DoNt LoSe YoUrSeLf |
