A Poem by DoNt LoSe YoUrSeLf

See that boy in the street?

He’s searching for food.

He hasn’t had any in days.

And his stomach growls with each step

He takes.

See that girl sitting on the stoop?

She holds bruises beneath her clothes.

No one knows how much she’s hurting.

All she wants

Is a family who cares.

See that dog walking on the sidewalk

He has no home and is lonely.

No one to take him in, love him.

So for now, he keeps walking the sidewalk

With a broken heart.

See that teen locked in her room?

No one can see the scars on her skin.

She feels no one can understand her or her pain.

She’s been through so much

And eases it with a blade.

Through everything, these people hurt.

When all they want

Is someone to care.

All they want

Is a home to call their own.
