Burn

Burn

A Poem by Lovecynic
"

Comparing love to a nicotine fix. Pleasurable, caustic, brief and terminal.

"

You can have any one you want.

I am surrounded by many others.

Fresh and whole, nothing separates me from the rest.

You draw me away from my group like any other

who came before me.

Taking me aside, it is now just us two.

As I feel your warmth encircle me,

I feel myself rise, higher and higher,

until I see the world and the world sees me,

dangling from every word you say.

They watch us,

faces frowned in disdain

or lips licked in temptation and yearning

--mouths watering at the sight.

Without any hesitation

you light the fire for which I had so long hungered.

I burn for you.

Smoldering, burning, you put me to your lips and suck on me gently.

Take in my essence and put me into you.

I can cure your pain.

I can feed your addiction.

Tell me I satisfy you.

Tell me I am the only one.

Lie to me and say I am the last.

I pleasure you all that I can

until, all at once, you are through with me.

Throw me away and stomp me out.

Smash me into a pile of others you have used and tossed aside.

You can forget about me until your next urge overcomes you.

But my scent still lingers in the air,

on your fingers,

in your hair,

I am forever a part of you.

This was actually better the first time I posted it BEFORE everything got lost in the big WritersCafe database deletion fiasco. Originally this poem, as it appears now, was written for a college writing course.
