Chapter Two

Chapter Two

A Chapter by Lady Nikki Nightmare

I followed the hallway further down the back of the hospital until I found the back exit. I used every sense I could focus to make sure no one was waiting on the other side of that door, and I found no one. I sighed and rushed out of the door setting off a few alarms, but that wasn’t my problem. I looked over my left shoulder and saw that same brown trench coat following me. I cursed under my breath as I continued to run.

I had to make it back to my place in time to gather some things. I couldn’t stay in California as long as the Nobles were tracking me. The only problem was that the new vamp was chasing me and he wasn’t doing too bad with keeping up. My brain stopped for half a second and it made the connection. “Maybe the Nobles aren’t after me,” I thought to myself as I picked up the pace.

Within a millisecond I was standing half way across LA. I didn’t take time to look around to see if anyone was following, so I simply rushed into my abandoned apartment building. No one had lived here for decades, and it was peaceful. Plus it had the fifties décor still going on. I didn’t bother waiting near the front because I could smell the vampire from the hospital coming. I didn’t know if it was following my scent or following me, but I knew that I wasn’t slowing down.

“Okay, pack, I need to pack,” I thought to myself as I grabbed a random bag. I threw a few of the clothes I had collected in the last week into it along with the blood from the hospital. I made sure I was wearing my Lapis Lazuli ring before I through the extra necklace that I sometime wore into the bag.

“Clothes, blood, accessories,” I sighed as I went over my list.

“Is that everything,” a male voice came from the front door. I knew without looking up that it was the guy from the hospital.

“Yes, I believe so,” I answered as I zipped the bag. “So why are they chasing you?”

“How do you know they’re after me,” he questioned with a raised brow. I scoffed as I looked at him as if he were crazy.

“Because I have not done anything wrong, as a matter of fact I have only been here six months. The Nobles do not quite care if you let a human in on the secret as long as you are relatives,” I explained.

“Oh, so that girl from the hospital is related,” he questioned.

“This is not about me and mine! It would help however if I knew who you are,” I stated bluntly as I finally took the time to look at him. He looked a little more scruffy, but I assumed that was because he was trying to keep up.

“I am Lucas,” he answered. He gazed at me for a moment as if I should have a clue as to what his name would mean.

“Lucas,” I questioned. His face fell.

“You can call me Luke,” he replied.

“Okay, well, my name is Rose, and I am not staying here for the Nobles,” I informed him as I grabbed the bag and began heading for the door.

“Where are you off to,” he asked curiously.

“I am not what the Nobles would call ’easy’ and my friends are twice as worse, so I am off to see some friends,” I answered with a hit of amusement.

“Can I tag along,” he asked almost cautiously. Caution was always a good thing when following me.

“If you confess why they are after you sure,” I answered.

“If you take me with you, I shall confess,” he suggested.

“I guess I can get to the bottom of it as we move,” I stated as I headed out of the building. I breathed in the air as that sweet familiar scent flooded me. I headed away from the front of the building and towards a local casino. I guess it’s time to get some wheels.
