Our Last DanceA Story by Lovers WritersIt was a romantic evening. The street lights started to flicker on, and very few horses and carriages were passing by. I was walking on the stone street in my finest dress, depressed to go on my date, for It was love at first sight. The date was set up for an important reason. My parents had an important rule that had to be followed. For I had done something sinful. Once I made it, I entered the building. The first thing I saw was men and women dancing together. Over to my left were some couples having dinner. I then spot my date sitting in a booth alone. There was a handsome man I knew, for he dated my sister. I waltzed over to the man. "Ah! I see the finest woman here has accepted my offer!" the man said. I smile delicately at him. "Indeed I have, now shall we dance to this blissful tune?" I asked, for he not know what was coming. What I had to do was going to hurt me more than it would him. As we blissfully waltzed to the blissful tune, I swiftly picked up a wine glass as we swayed past a table. Taking a sip of the wine in front of the man, the man looked pleased. Though I'm sure I was more pleased than him at that moment. "If you don't mind, my fine lady, I shall be right back." The man had then left. This was the perfect moment. While the fine man was gone, I had spilled something in my drink, then refilled it to make it look like a fresh glass of wine. I then prepared myself for when he comes back. When the man came back, I had offered him the glass of wine. The man smiled and accepted the wine, oblivious to what I had done. He drank the whole thing. "May we waltz once more? For this may be our last dance," I asked, in an almost sympathetic tone. The man looked confused but decided to dance with me. As we waltzed, the man suddenly realized what I had done, for he became a little pale. His eyes began to look frantic. The man tried to get away from me but I held him with me. "What's the matter? Your dancing is clumsy for such a fine man, " I say. "You little-!" I hushed the man before he could finish his sentence. "You don't want to cause a scene do you? Your status will be ruined if you survive," I whispered in the man's ear. After the song the fine man no longer looked fine. His hair looks greasy, and he looks deathly ill. "This was a great night, but I shall be on my way," I say. I helped the no longer fine man back to his booth. The man looked up at me with hatred in his eyes. "I truly do love you, but this is revenge for my sister." "Once again, thank you, for such a fine night. It's a shame that you won't get to finish the fine night," I say. I then waltz out of the tall building, and make my way to my next date. © 2022 Lovers Writers |
