Candles To The StarsA Poem by BrianEver thought for a moment you might be able to wish something true? Believe in it so fervently and with purity that it might truly come to pass? Candles to the stars, darling.. candles to the starsAnd sometimes the inspiration comes from believing in the promise of the night, and her lovely sky that holds the cards.. “Candles To The Stars” I am holding candles to the stars And wishing upon them all I cannot handle this distance This inescapable desert Barren and frigid Sweltering and surreal That exists between us If I were point A on a map And B were my destination Would you be there for me? Waiting and meticulously gauging The miles I ought traverse In a broken down charter You " my stellar cartographer And I the desperate man On the oldest-of-them-all mission Hoping that time would pass As quickly as the burn Of the wax I feel Dripping down my arm Causes me to blister I am holding candles to the stars And wishing upon them all Sear the words into me On my scar-riddled chest And just above My naked left breast Stain my soul with your whisper I am so impatient So impatiently listening For any of the saccharine song That might ever so softly escape Your crimson-pressed lips I am holding candles to the stars And wishing upon them all Breathe three words into me And grant me life from this Cursed existence I have led Allow me precious moments To breathe without fear Repeating your promise As therein I find true solace Within your sacred beauty Within your seraph’s wings I am holding candles to the stars And I’m wishing upon them all And I’m waiting for you Waiting for you, love, Waiting for you to fall © Brian Milici April 6, 2015 May you always find your smile.
