Ecstasy She flies from the porch A blue cotton-clad blur Chestnut locks streaming Tossed recklessly in the breeze A light-hearted laugh for all the countryside to hear A tranquil morning infused by imagined melody Pure joy, simple rapture Deep molasses eyes spy only one thing Shredded uniform, bloodied feet Haggard shell of a man Still he shines like the sun
