You're not necessarily respected just because you aren't a teenager. Remember the people around you grow up to be your age.
Too much emphasis on exams, I definitely agree with that. You can feel stupid and dumb at any stage of your life...unfortunately. I certainly don't hope that happens to you. Good luck.

They all assume that ALL teenagers are troublemakers... just because a few are doesn't make all teenagers troublemakers...
Also I believe that adults that are not quite as mature as some teenagers are do not deserve the authority they're given over these teenagers... People keep going on about how teenagers need to learn to be more independent but, honestly, adults never give them a chance. I should know, I am going through this right now as I turned 16 only a few months ago.
I, myself, am currently being pressured with exams, constant studying and torturing lessons, which is why I felt the need to mention exams in this poem.
And I am being treated and made to feel like I'm stupid and dumb all the time - it just seems to come with being a teenager.
Thank you for this lovely review

The system forgets that teachers and students are human beings. I'm sorry for what you're going through. Speaking as someone who is fairly young, in my early 20, I found teaching high school to be unspeakably worse than being in high school. The verbal abuse is often 2-sided. Unfortunately, as a young teacher I felt I could not speak out even when I felt my students' behavior verged on bullying without being called incompetent. I did my best every day.
I do not believe all teenagers are troublemakers, but the majority of teenagers I taught put me through hell. Stealing things, calling me a b***h to my face, never being quiet for 1 consecutive minute, etc. I will NEVER teach high school again. And I used to think being in high school was the worst thing, no longer...
Again, I do feel for you, but I changed my mind about the issues you're dealing with.

Some teenagers might be going through hell at home so they try to create hell at school. At my school, most people are necessarily nice and we all get on well with our teachers.
I have found that some students are just trying to give the teachers a hard time on purpose. No student really wants to be in school... teachers put too much pressure on them... it just gets too much sometimes.
I understand it must have been hard for you as a teacher too but being a student who is still in education, I have not really thought about how teachers might feel. I thank you so much for informing me this. I have learnt a lot and (if it is even possible) have gained a little more respect for teachers - because even though they choose this career, it doesn't seem like an easy one either.

I know there is always more than one side to everything but I find that, especially with poetry, only adult opinions are really made on topics so I wanted to change things a bit and MAKE people aware of how teenagers also feel and how they react to these topics
Nicely stated and even though it was a long time ago (a very long time ago) I remember these feelings...no one understood me except those in my own age group. The funny thing is it happens in each age group, 20's why am I in this position and they are in that position? I do however think that society, at least from what I can see is giving more credit to teens and the impact they have on the future nowadays than they did when I was a teen. But then again, that may just be how I recall it. I 100% agree with too much emphasis on exams in subjects not really needed...but you never know.

People need to think about it this way... the current teenagers are the future generation. They're going to affect how the world turns out within the next 50 years. But, when they're treated as they are, they just won't care. The world will turn into nothing. A bit extreme, I know, but you have to think about the inevitable.
I don't agree with the pressure being put on teenagers with exams... it just stresses them out too much - and has been known to make teenagers physically and mentally ill.
People just need to give teenagers a break sometimes
