The First Year Is The Worst YearA Chapter by Louis McKraker
In memory of my mother...
The first year is the worst year, Or so I'm told, By both young and old, For any who have lost a friend so dear
As you were to me.
There is everything now to do, For the first time alone, And like the first night at home, That I spent in this house without you,
This is all new to me... This rite of tragedy.
Still, I remain confident and certain Your light will shine in me again, When darkness is at an end, As you are now free from all burden,
And all the darkness you used to see. © 2019 Louis McKrakerFeatured Review
