When I Had A Heart To Give

When I Had A Heart To Give

A Chapter by Louis McKraker

Maybe I can't remember how to feel

As human as I used to.

But I fully remember how love feels,

As it is something I muse to.

It will take all the energy you've stirred up

Just for me to be able to say: Goodbye.

But it is something that I am sure of.

So sorry if I took you by surprise.

When I had a heart to give,

You were always on my mind;

When I had a heart to give,

You were the apple of my eye;

   But,

When I had a heart to give,

You wouldn't give me the time.

Maybe I didn't even know what I

Had fallen under, or into.

But I know well what is and is not right;

And this, I promise, is a sin, too.

You were a drape I thought I could draw,

on a day when I could use some sun light.

But the only light that shown through that window at all,

was of another breed; and not at all what I had in mind.

I have experienced this light too... that i can almost read sorta light just enough to tease a few letters but not enough to form the words. Just a god awful hint of color but not enough to register the hues... i knew her, seems shes been casting that dimness all over the place! I liked this it has a very real and relate able tone to this poem. The interesting aspect is in spite of it's discord the voice isn't angry just matter of fact. I also like the drape draw line most of all... clever

Thanks, BB. That's usually my goal, to not be angry just matter-of-factly speaking. There's no sense.. read more
