Who tells the maple when to shed its leaves?
  Who sells the words to the rhymes?
Who markets the pollen to the bees?
  Who can make these things victims of the times--

     Like you and I?


Who is to censor the maple’s nudity?
  Who can reprimand the woodpecker for vandal crimes?
Who can discriminate how the shore receives the sea?
  Who can make these things victims of the times?
    
     It isn't you or I.

I love this. I believe there are relative laws on the physical and metaphysical planes that govern the source of everything and the outcome of events. Nice way to articulate that in a poem!
