The CharacterA Poem by Laura Kate
Please don't fix your gaze on me
and tell me that I've changed your eyes penetrate me with arrows of despise and I cannot bear the shame I know your perception not to be truth in reality the real me you never knew I became myself once your chapters were written your story read and your typos forgiven now I observe the pain and anguish in your eyes as the character you created in your mind's eye dies
