ClosedA Poem by Laura Kate
I keep your sheets close to me.
Before bed I read them with a heavy head and weep Tears navigate the curves of my cheeks salty kisses linger around my chin until quick don't wet the ink! I wonder which words might have been meant for me, inspired by me. Did you know I'd read them one day? Half way through, turning the air-tight pages at the back yet to be disturbed in the nine years they've been waiting for me. There you are released from the depths of your memories and awakening mine your voice echoes through the pages your smell lit like a match. I have to put it out. Close the book. I can't yet look. How did you stay in there for all this time? Perhaps just a peek once in a while.
