You are the Fan

You are the Fan

A Poem by Laura Kate

You are the fan
I wait in your winds
to feel your flow
run through my clothes,
my feet lift
to dance upon your drifts
twirling, swaying
colours swirling
hair blowing
tempted
to leave my neck.
Hands scooping
the essence of you
blowing in your breeze
catching
currents,
sliding swiftly down
into the heart
of your gale.

What a gust of wonderful thoughts and sights and words flung in the air to be relived and written of.....

Forgive those seemingly rushed words, minus punctuation, please. BUT -. your poem seems to speed along as if the fan is moving ultra fast!. There's a near flamboyant, almost avaricious enjoyment of that fan; was and is an invitation to memorable pleasures! Mid-twenties niece here, reading over my shoulder, thinks your words are magic! Me too.

I imagine here a scorching hot day with no air conditioning, just an electric fan, to try and move the air around to allow the temperature to be kinder. It is light, airy and so very welcome. Makes a great metaphor too LauraKate.

love your fan ma'am ... its a powerful one for sure to lift you so in heart and spirit ;) makes me think of all things youthful, in spring time newness ... the whirlwind of Love .. how it takes us .. your poem has truly inspired an awakening ... my neck and jaw are beginning to blush ;) but i am an old man....more of a blow hard than a gale ;)))))))))))))))))))))))))) love you poem Laura .. uplifting and inspiring .. creates the scene and offers characters to hang details on ... has movement and music in the wind .. with start, middle and closing .. well done .. fine free verse says i! :)

love the metaphor here.....fans give us breeze...and relationships can feel like a breeze for awhile....but then comes the air conditioning...and one might freeze out the other.
