The BookcaseA Poem by Laura KateMemories from the night before collect upon my pillow. My heavy head sinks into darkness and I land at my beloved dusty bookcase, shelves full of volumes in different colours and sizes, some old, some new. I trace my fingers along the binds reminiscing their nostalgic tales; The Night the World Turned Upside Down, The Night We Flew, The Night I Kissed My Dear Grandad Goodbye and The Night I Held The Child Who Couldn’t Be. I almost take this one back off the shelf. Eventually my body gives in to rest like a lone feather finally settling on the water’s surface. I clear my mind as it opens a brand new book, grasp my faithful pen and breathe life into a fresh, crisp page. © 2019 Laura KateFeatured Review
