How we used to beA Poem by Laura KateJust a thoughtImagine a world, she said, where we don't wear clothes, where the eye may cast its regard upon the naked body without sexualising or grading it, without judgement. Imagine a world, she said, where the 'I' may expose herself freely without wondering what the other is thinking of her flesh, if she fits the expectations which decide her worthiness. Imagine a world, she said, where we could love outside of the confines of sex where the greatest value could be found in giving love without asking for it in return. Imagine a world, she said, where sex was a quiet, sensual expression of our burning desires from within, instead a loud, ascetic, external meeting of skin. Oh but my darling, he replied, that’s is exactly how we used to be. © 2019 Laura KateAuthor's Note
