Scene Two

INT. KITCHEN (MANSION)-AFTERNOON

Niki sits at an island table with a bowl of cereal.  He simply sits there playing with the marshmellows that float in the milk.  Eris stalks into the room, she storms past him without saying anything and goes straight to the fridge throwing it open.

NIKI

           Hiyo Eris?

She whirls around startled for a few seconds before realizing it was him.

ERIS

           Bloody Hades, it talks!

NIKI

           Oh haha.

ERIS

You know, I would think you’d have a panic attack when

you talk about us versus the rest of the world.  We are

scary, scary people.  Oh wait, I mean.  We’re scary, scary

           gods.

NIKI

Wanna explain why I was nearly hit by a golden apple

           today?

ERIS

No.  Not really.  I kinda want to eat.

EROS (V.O)

           B***h.

ERIS

And later, I don’t think so either.  Why don’t you ask

your mommy.  Everybody here loves golden apples.

EVERETT (O.S)

           I don’t.

Everett enters.  He walks into the kitchen and sits down at the island looking at Niki.

EVERETT

You look like death, come to the gym with Emmett and

           me sometime.

NIKI

           I-I have a S-Social Anxiety Disorder.

EVERETT

           Excuses.

ERIS

You’re gonna give him a heart attack and you know who’ll

           be pissed.

EVERETT

           Aphrodite.  I’m so scared.

ERIS

You should be but not who I was thinking about.

NIKI

           Please d-d-don’t say m-my dad’s name.  Please.  Ugh.  I-I

don’t even w-w-want to think about that b-b*****d.

EROS (V.O)

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention my dad.  (hesitates)  Too bad.

NIKI

           P-p-please leave, I-I’m trying to-to eat cereal.

EVERETT

(attempts Irish accent, instead it’s German)

           Don’t steal my Lucky Charms!

ERIS

           But it’s like nighttime.

EVERETT

If it were nighttime then the moon would be up.

ERIS

I hate Apollo!  He’s so damn lazy!

NIKI

D-don’t let your anger out on h-her.

ERIS

           Shut up SAD!

EVERETT

           What?

NIKI

I-I don’t get it either and I-I have brains.

ERIS

           SAD equals Social Anxiety Disorder.

EVERETT

I like it.  Hey SAD.  You’re always so sad.

ERIS

           Haha your nickname is SAD!

NIKI

           I-I hate m-my l-life.

ERIS

Sucks to be immortal, doesn’t it?

NIKI

           Yeah, y-yeah, y-yes it does.

Niki grabs his bowl and dumps it into the sink before he walks away from them.  Eris sits down by Everett and they start to about nonsense.

EROS (V.O)

You know, I wasn’t always this way.  Back in the day, my

personality did justice to my name.

TIME CUT: PAST: ANCIENT GREECE: INT. APHRODITE TEMPLE-NIGHT

EROS stumbles into the temple while he clings to a WOMAN 1, hugging and kissing her.

WOMAN

           Do you love me?

EROS

Of course I love you, I am the god of love…(tails away)

EROS (V.O)

                           (add)

Well yeah, I’m the god of love but it’s erotic love.  I’m the

reason why he cheated on you.

WOMAN

           I love you, too.

CUT TO: EXT. STREETS-DAY

Eros is walking in the streets of a Greek city with a little piece of parchment in his hand.  Constantly he looks down at it while he’s holding onto a classic bow and arrow that Eros or Cupid is imagined to have.

EROS (V.O)

I even had the personality to help my mom match make.

That’s what we used to do.  Now life is blah but it’s not

like I’d be much help anyway.

Soon Eros comes up to AKAKIOS.  He lowers the weapon before walking straight up to this new man.

EROS

           Are you Akakios?

AKAKIOS

           Yes?

EROS

                           (smiles)

Agape wishes to see you by Aphrodite’s temple.

AKAKIOS

           Who are you?  Her brother?

EROS

           Friend.

AKAKIOS

Tell her that I am to wed another.

EROS

It does not work that way.

Before Akakios can make sense of what is happening, Eros shoots him with an arrow that instantly fades away.  Then he walks away looking over his shoulder at Akakios who stands there, thinking.

EROS

           Agape is waiting.

Akakios c***s his head to the side, he has no recollection to who Eros is before backing away.  He runs off towards Aphrodite’s temple, which sits upon the acropolis.  A hand reaches out from behind him and touches his shoulder.  When he turns around, it’s APHRODITE standing there.

APHRODITE

We need to discuss the matters of who your father is.

Eros just stands there.

APHRODITE

           Niki?!

CUT BACK TO: PRESENT

INT. HALLWAY NEAR STAIRCASE

Niki stands there and he looks to see that Helena is standing below him while he grips the railing.

NIKI

           Hiyo mom.

HELENA

Don’t you miss those days where we used to match make?

NIKI

           I-I-I miss a lot of things.  C-c-courage is one-one of th-them.

HELENA

           You’re so sad these days.

NIKI

           I-I-I’m going back to b-bed.

HELENA

           Nikolaos…

EROS (V.O)

She never uses my whole name.

NIKI

           Yes?

HELENA

We need to discuss certain matters about your father.

Niki freezes where he stands and everything becomes silent.  The only sound is the movement of feet as Eris and Everett run into the room.  Even Emmett races into the room.  Everybody stands there staring at Helena while she stands there frowning.

NIKI

           H-how urgent is it?

HELENA

It’s your father.  It’s always urgent.

NIKI

           Ok.

I love Star Trek. I love screenwriting but for some reason, I really want to write a kid's story. Like those great old chapter books. I read sci-fi and Jane Austen. (I'm not huge on fantasy) .. more..
