Night Fae

Night Fae

A Poem by Caitlyn Murphy
"

Written for my first and only girlfriend. We have since parted, but I think of her often. She lived in Alaska and has two-toned eyes (she's a medical chimera), and those themes play heavily in this piece.

"

Eyes of blue; eyes of green.

Emerald and sapphire burn as one.

Small and frail; precious and soft.

A façade of innocence, to mask a world of wisdom.

Queen of the night, pale and strong

Though little known to she.

Some call her dark, some call her night

I call her mine.

Years of hurt and loss

Haunting eyes so clear and true.

To wash away those tearful days

With cruel sun and cold light,

The world I’d relent for her.

A magic unlike the world

Has ever known; powerful soul

My little night Fae

Named for the lights

That dance in the sky;

Reflected in those eyes

That pierce and claim the spirit

A beauty that she cannot see

Pulses with life beneath the surface

Is it up to me to show the world

My beautiful chimera?

Trembling voice of interwoven life

Green of Isle and white of snow.

Ruling over darkened worlds

To guide the lost and

To save the ones behind blue eyes.

How can she not see?

How could the world have not known?

She is perfect
