Peeps are my favorite candy, too! I like the yellow ones more than the pink. The pink have a funny taste. I think it's the red food coloring. Are poetry peeps the ones they sell for back-to-school? All kidding aside, it's nice to know you value your fellow poets. So often, we are the red-headed step children of the writing world.

Here is something funny about me... I love to write but I hate to read. people put up entire stories on the website. if I start reading a long story the same thing happens like when I was in school my eyes automatically drift up to look out the window. I am not dumb I got b's and c's in school without even trying. I got all my homework done in study hall. when that bell would ring that school was over I went running out the door wild and free. I was in the hospital for a few months. my fave nurse told me she can read an entire book in one day and loved it. I told her I hate to read but I know 4 computer programming languages. we had mutual respect for each other. there! you know more about me than me you probably want to know. as always... sweet day wished on you. jeff

Sounds to me like you were one of those kids for whom conventional schooling was boring and lifeless. My degree is in education (early childhood.) To create a love of reading, you have to ignite the desire to read. You can't do that if the books and materials are dry and boring and too long to hold the interest of children who need stimulation to remain engaged. I love reading. I learned when I was three. My brain took pictures of the words and I called them up whenever I saw them in books. The rest I figured out from the sound of the letters. It was more instinctual than taught. It's words that draw me, in all their many forms. Math, on the other hand... well, I have dyscalculia, so mathematics and concrete thinking were incredibly difficult. I like computers. I understand how they communicate. But I have not delved deeply into the way they communicate. I'm too busy writing stuff for people to read.

I don't think anyone has ever written a poem for me. Or a song. I barely even got greeting cards, and those were just from my dentist. I feel so honored!

you got your own poem darling. get used to it. and someday I could grab my guitar and throw in a few chords and you have your own song. just simple tricks. I do it all the time. it's the inspiration that matters , otherwise there is nothing to write about. inspire is a form of the word respire which is to breathe. you breathe into me. I am giving away all my secrets to you. I trust you. and in this wild crazy world you can trust me, I have no idea what will happen next but I do know for absolute sure I would never hurt you. I am still recovering from my last girlfriend. I told her things did not work out but can we still be friends. she looked me straight in the eye and said no. if she could, she would pour arsenic down my throat. I have proof I am not a bad person...I went out to lunch with my ex-wife from 30 years ago. we had a wonderful time. that's Jeff story chapter one. stay tuned. have a great day I love talking to you. jeff

Zoe Chapter One: Men treat me horribly. That pretty much sums it up. One I divorced for pulling a gun on me. The other died cursing me as the source of all his problems. I've sworn off love, at least until I heal. It's getting better, though! I'm talking to you when a couple years ago I would have scalded you with the backside of my tongue for saying hello!

Omg you make my mind go so fast. I want to tell you a million things all at once. a gun and death that does sound horrible. I have noticed most men are control freaks. This is weird I once had a girlfriend who was mad at me cause she said I am supposed to tell her what to do otherwise she doesn't know what to do. look how weird the world is. you and I have a special friendship, alliance. you stay close to me I will never let you down. sweet blessings on you. jeff

Control is fine, if both parties agree to it and enjoy it. Otherwise, it's just abuse. I seem to attract men who are drawn to one side of me, but cannot handle it when I am not that way all the time. I'm not perfect. I have issues, like most people. But I will not be punished for things beyond my control.

Omg you are so complicated! me too. my last girlfriend paid for everything. I did not have to work a job. i am an electro-mechanical engineer. and she was a pretty looking thing too. my sister told me... I was being controlled. my sister is not dumb.... she sees it all from the outside. Jeff chapter 2

I've never met kept man! if that's the dynamic the two of you agreed to, and you were happy not being the provider, then that's not being controlled. However, if she used her position as the breadwinner to manipulate you and make you feel bad about yourself, that's control and abuse. It doesn't matter if you are a man and she is a woman, she was still being abusive and controlling. Women can, in my opinion, be much more controlling than men. That's why they tend to nag and complain. I have no desire to control or be in charge of anything. But I also have no trouble speaking my mind.

she was really pretty and in full control and I learned to just stay out of her way while she got things done. I would just say thank you a lot. I don't know why but she loved me more than I will ever be loved again. she was crazy about me. I still don't know why. I feel sorry I disappointed her somehow. that love turned sour... then to poison... I am still trying to heal

Probably because that kind of love is suffocating. I wouldn't feel bad about disappointing her. Noone can be perfect, and being the sole focus of someone's attention sets up that person to inevitably disappoint. People are far more complex than romantic love allows these days.

here's the funny thing... I would go running back there as fast as I could... she would take care of me... and she understood me... crazy world huh?

There's a reason you left. Was it a good one? Something besides fear or self-doubt?

Zoe I don't lie to you. She married some other guy. I fell on the floor and she stepped over me to get her things to go live with her new man. the neighbor called the ambulance to come get me.

Man, that's cold. If it's any consolation, my late husband cheated on me. Told all our kids (his and mine) that he was moving me out and moving her in. But he never told me. He had this woman coming to her house, bringing her kids over, acting like she was just a friend of a friend. I did not like her, I did not trust her, but there was nothing I could do about it. I was alone, hundreds of miles from family, no job, no money, no way out, and seriously ill. It was a nightmare. So I sympathize deeply. I truly do.

Nobody noticed this poem for a while. I was going to delete it because I thought people would think it is stupid. It really is true from my heart. I have nothing but problems all day in the real world and more on the way I'm sure. I feel safe with my poetry people. Nice place to escape to.
