CHAPTER THREE - THE UNEXPECTED... KISS?!A Chapter by L.L. LilyTURN THE TABLES, WHAT SECRET'S LIE BEHIND THAT ACT OF PASSION?April was dismissed
a week after the accident. The doctor had given her a note as an excuse for her
absence and got back to school the day after. April was glad they had discharged
her from that ghost town. She didn’t know why she always had a bad feeling whenever
she was in there it was like a being in a cemetery with spirits freely roaming
around her. As soon as she had
returned to school, the people around her had treated her well. Saying Hi
whenever she passed by and offered to help her with her book bag, she wasn’t
used to such treatment, before the accident no one even knew she existed. It was troublesome
to enough that they’d laugh at her whenever Johan bullied her, now grabbing everyone’s
attention was too much for her to handle. It was like a one way ticket to the
front gates of hell, the kindness was killing her. She didn’t like joining big
groups and preferred a quiet environment. She liked the extra time to think and
didn’t want to worry about relations with others. Talia, the class
representative of her division had offered her a hand. The four-eyed
angelic-faced short beauty clutched her books against her chest smiling sweetly
as she stood in front of April who had glared at her blankly. She was kind, but
April being an observer knew she was only helping her to boost her reputation
she could identify those Barbie type
of gals. “I don’t need your
help.” April hissed, her cold words shooting Talia like a sharp bullet piercing
over her as if her existence was a nuisance. Her cold stare and blunt attitude
was even more frightening in everyone and not just Talia’s eyes. April knew Talia was
scared of her and she didn’t have to observe even further due to the fact that her
obvious shaking was noticeable ever since she had approached her. April knew
that Talia wasn’t comfortable talking to her, and April didn’t really care if
she really did want to help her. April scoffed
crossing her arms as she tortured Talia with her vicious glare. Talia broke
into tears running away as April smirked sighing as she leaned against her
locker. “I hate plastic the most.” She hissed casting a mean glance at the
people around her. Everyone who had
seen what she had done to Talia, walked away quickly as possible, shaking in
fear the moment they met her cold graze. They didn’t want to end up like Talia.
A shadow appears in
front of her, looking up she had identified the large figure as Johan. As
usual, he wore a playful smirk and she could tell he had something in mind. “What do you want?”
she growled still wearing a vicious glare. He leaned forward
his face inches away from hers as he toyed with the collar of her shirt.
“Welcome back,” he cooed this time taking a lock of her hair sniffing it
deviously. “You’re the one who
nearly killed me right?” Johan avoided her graze guiltily, “So what?” “We’re you the one
who had rushed me to the clinic?” “And what if I did?”
“Nothing, I just
wanted to confirm it.” She sneered brushing off the conversation with a shrug. Her
tone of voice was intimidating and as always cold. Doing this only pissed off
Johan even more. “You should be
thankful, a Johan Gibson, bringing a low life like you to the clinic. I could
have let you die!” Johan retorted pounding his fist on the locker behind her
creating a shallow dent on the metal. April smirked,
unlike the man in front of her, she was rather calm and loved seeing him react
in defeat; it was amusing and she planned to do more to spark that anger even deeper.
“Well then in return,” she cooed tiptoeing high with her toes as she clung onto
his neck, she locked her graze with his gently placing a palm on his cheek as
she kissed the back of her hand, whispering in his ears, “thank you.” Johan blushed he
can’t believe she had tricked him, especially since it was his job to tease
her. He watched her walk away victoriously, furious by her actions. He grabbed
her by the arm, flinching as she glared at him coldly. It didn’t really bug
him whenever she had gotten back at him after his bullying, but after what had happened,
he couldn’t stop thinking of her, he was irritated he wanted to get back at
her, wanted to do more. He suddenly pulled her close into a kiss, locking the
distance between them as he hugged her small figure tight against his body. April blinked,
unable to comprehend what had just happened she didn’t know how to react.
Usually she’d have a comeback, but she’d never expect him to turn the tables
instantly and take advantage of her move and use it to backfire against her. “What are you going
to do now?” Johan snickered, still holding her body against his. April pulled back,
falling butt flat on the ground, Johan stepped forward extending a hand as she
moved back cautiously. “Stay away from me!” she screamed, grabbing everyone’s
attention. Johan smirked, this
time turning around leaving her on the ground. “Looks like I won this time
McDaniel’s.” he winked walking out on her. That same day, Johan
sat on the school’s rooftop skipping last period. He took out the picture from
his wallet smirking as he stared at the beauty on the photograph. It was a
stolen picture of a twelve-year-old girl sitting alone on the edge of the pool,
hugging her legs as she stared at the water. “Why can’t you smile?” He said
frowning at the picture, even when they were young he’d always see that cold
independent glare from her, he still can’t believe no matter how many years had
passed she still hadn’t changed. “April,” he whispered, caressing the smooth
surface of her hair in the photograph with his finger. “I love you.” Although she
couldn’t remember him after the years that had passed, he wouldn’t forget the
girl who had saved him in the 6th grade when he was drowning at the
school’s swimming pool. Ever since that day he wanted to become close to her, he
wanted to see her smile and thank her for what she had done, but didn’t get the
opportunity to do so. The reason behind
his teasing was that he couldn’t tell her that he liked her and the only way he
could approach her without getting any wrong ideas was to bully her. He never
expected that what he was doing would only make her hate him. He just liked
seeing all sorts of expression’s she had made and wished he could see her
smile. He thought it would look better on her if she did. Johan broke into an unavoidable
smile, he can’t help remember what happened earlier that day, she planted an
indirect kiss on his cheek and after getting worked up, he had finally stole a
kiss from her. He bit his lip, he wanted to feel them against his once more,
and see that expression she had made a while back. She was blushing as
she stared at him with a clueless expression. It was just like her to make such
a face, she was so clueless ever since they were young, she couldn’t even see
that behind his teasing the reason he did that was because he liked her. The dismissal bell
rung, staring down below the rooftop he watched the students scour like ants in
search for food. He got up placing the picture back onto his wallet in his back
pocket and got ready to set off hanging his sports bag over his left shoulder, when
he decided to wait five more minutes, as he usually did to find April in art
class staying behind. He’d watch her secretly
and leave her undisturbed, he could remember that troubled expression she had made
when he had snuck behind her. She was shyly blocking her work of art from view
and after the incident became extra-careful whenever she was alone in class
locking the doors so she wouldn’t be disturbed. He wondered why she hadn’t
shown anyone her work when she had potential. Johan smirked, leaning on the
wooden door; it was so like her to keep it in secret. © 2013 L.L. LilyAuthor's Note
